Hrauneyjar Highland Center & Guesthouse Information

Situated upon the entrance into the Highlands of Iceland 64°11´48,56 N and 19°17´07.31 W  – we are on the verge of where civilization ends and reaches transcends to the barren yet beautiful and mystic interior. Surprisingly enough only 150 km from Reykjavik and with an excellent paved road providing all year-access in any kind of vehicle, we are easy to reach and find.

The guesthouse has a well-known restaurant with heartwarming food serving up to 180 guests. We also have a gas station, an information center, a fishing center, service facilities, a TV room, and a shop selling an assortment of goods and food articles. We also provide daily weather and road reports for travelers venturing into the Highlands and many times act as a center for excursions heading there.

We offer both made up beds and sleeping bag accommodation at the Highland Center:

20 rooms with double bed, with bathroom. Cat - 2
26 rooms with double bed, without bath. Cat - I
30 rooms with twin beds, or bunk beds, without bath. Cat- I
17 additional rooms (L-house, open from 15.Juni to 15. Sept.) with twin beds, without bath, (Cat-I) are also found adjecent to Hotel Highland - 1,4 km away. This building is also equipped with public cooking facilities. No such cooking facilities are offered elsewhere on the Hrauneyjar property.

We have a total of 119 rooms in Hrauneyjar Highland Center & Hotel Highland combined - housing up to 220 guests.

We are in partnership with Icelandic Farmholidays, farm no. 670. The Highland Center is open allyear round except during certain days around the Christmas Holidays.

The Hrauneyjar Highland Center (Hálendismiðstöðin) is also taking part in a cooperative project regarding the soil conservation park in Árskógar, along with some other companies. This area has been conciliated for sheeps for about 30 years.

Cancellation policy:
If cancelled up to 48 hours before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
